On Saturday mommy took Nick to AHRC. In the afternoon when mommy went to pick Nick up she said "Spring is here, it is a beautiful day. Let's go take a walk." Nick said "no, Wendy's." Mommy could not convince Nick to change his mind and we went to Wendy's instead.
Nick is learning how to hold the door for mommy. He does not like to do this yet.
Then we wait on line and when it is our turn Nick reads his paper and says "hi, I want large french fries please." Mommy gives Nick money and he pays for his fries and then gives mommy the change. When we are done he says "thank you" to the person behind the counter.
Then we sit at a table. Mommy tries to talk to Nick but he likes to look out the window and look at people in the restaurant.
When we are all done we have to put our garbage in the trash can and put the brown tray on top. Nick used to put the brown tray in the garbage all the time but he is finally learning what to do.
Then we go in the car to Fairway Market. If Nick is good mommy buys Nick a big cookie. Mommy gives Nick a little cookie in the car so he can use his words to ask for more. This week while mommy was driving Nick took off his seat belt and grabbed the cookie bag from the front seat. "Mommy said what are you doing?" Nick just laughed and said "cookie! cookie!" Mommy will be more careful with the cookie bag from now on.

Spring Break for Nick
Last week there was no school. It is called Spring Vacation, and mommy showed Nick on the calendar that there would be no school for a lot of days. Mommy and daddy had to go to work, so Lauren took care of Nick.
Lauren and Nick went out in the car to different places. Lauren takes Nick all over Long Beach; to restaurants and the library and the playground.
They went to the Rec Center and Nick played in the pool.
And they went to the beach and Nick played in the sand and got his feet wet in the ocean.
Best of all they went to a place called Bounce. Nick could run and climb and play. There was a big slide and Nick loved running up the stairs and then coming down the slide.
And they ate french fries at Burger King.
When mommy comes home from work Nick says "Bye-bye Lauren" to tell her to go home. Lauren is not sad though, she knows that Nick loves her. Lauren was Nick's first real friend.

Mommy was remembering a long time ago, Lauren used to take care of Nick when he was little. She helped Nick learn to write.
And they played in the pool at Lauren's building.

Easter Eggs
Today is Sunday, and it is a holiday called Easter. Mommy told Nick that sometimes people make eggs in different colors for Easter so we went to the store and bought the kit so we could do that too.
First mommy had to cook the eggs in water. When they were cold mommy took them out and we put stickers on some of the eggs so they would have shapes on them.
Then mommy told Nick to put tablets in the bowls and all of the bowls became a different color. There was orange, purple, yellow, green, red and blue. They looked just like bowls of paint!
Nick had fun turning the eggs around in the bowls.
Then we put them on a plate and put paint dots on them.
Now the eggs are all done and they look so pretty. Mommy said she will eat them for breakfast. Mommy asked Nick if he wants to eat one of the eggs and he said "no!"
Maybe they are too pretty to eat!

Happy Birthday Cousin Jesse!
In April we celebrate Cousin Jesse's Birthday. Nick loves his big cousin, and every year we have a dinner and Nick helps to sing Happy Birthday. Mommy took Nick to the store to pick out a cake.
Nick looked at all the cakes in the window.
After dinner we took out the cake and Nick helped to sing Happy Birthday.
Nick loves Birthday Cakes so much! Anyone who knows Nick knows you have to blow out your candles fast or Nick will do it for you!

Baby Teeth
This week Nick lost a tooth. It left a space in the back of his mouth and he was bleeding. Mommy and daddy could not find the tooth.
The day before mommy got a picture on the computer. Cousin Henry lost his first baby tooth! He has a space in the front, and you can see where the tooth is missing in his mouth. And best of all, he got one dollar under his pillow!
Congratulations Henry!
To the Boardwalk
Today was a beautiful spring day. Mommy said to Nick, "let's go take a walk to the boardwalk." Nick had a big smile on his face and he said "boardwalk!" Mommy told Nick to put on socks and sneakers. He even put on a sweatshirt all by himself. Then we went for our walk.
We are lucky to live in Long Beach. Mommy and Nick walked in the streets to the boardwalk. Nick was so excited he tried to run away from mommy lots of times, but mommy said we have to walk together and hold hands in the street.
Then we got to the ramp for the boardwalk. Mommy said to Nick, "okay, you can run but wait for me at the top." Nick ran up to the top and did not wait for mommy, he kept running and mommy had to chase him.
We looked at the buildings while we walked. There were lots of people. Some were walking and some were on bicycles. We saw an empty bench and sat down and watched the ocean.
Then we walked to the playground. Nick used to play there when he was very little. Today he played on the swings.
We walked home on Broadway so we could see more buildings. Nick asked mommy to say the names of the buildings and we took pictures of them so Nick can have them on his computer.
There was one building with big stairs. Nick said "stairs" and mommy said we could go up the stairs but we could not go in the building. Nick liked this building, it had an arched entrance and Nick stood for a long time looking up at the windows.
Then we were close to home. There is a new walking path on the way and we stopped and sat down on a big rock. Nick was happy because he had a good time on our walk.
Mommy said to Nick "where do you live?" and Nick said "Long Beach." Mommy said, "that's right! I'm happy you like Long Beach, this is your town!"
