Dad at work, far away

Today, dad had to go to work far away, in Baltimore city.  Dad will come home on Thursday night.

Nick watched from the window while dad got in the taxi.

We watched dad go in the taxi and drive away.  

Nick showed mom his Sunday list.  Dad and Nick always go shopping on Sunday.  Mom told Nick, "don't worry, I will take you to your stores today.  Then we will come home and make dinner and go out for ice cream for dessert."

Sunday with Mom

Last week, mom was far away at work.  On Sunday, mom said to Nick, "I missed you a lot while I was gone.  It's a beautiful day in Long Beach, let's do something together."

We went for a long walk on the boardwalk, it was a perfect day, we walked all the way to other side of town, and then went out for lunch.

We took this selfie while we were sitting on the benches.

Mom said, "what a perfect picture to remember this nice day together."

Spooky Spider Lights

It is October, and Halloween is coming.  Nick started to decorate the house this weekend.

This year Nick bought colorful lights with spiders on them.

Mom said, "I don't think I want that hanging in our living room.  Let's hang them in Nick's room."

That's what we did.  Nick likes to lie in bed and look at his spooky spider lights on the wall.

Mom at work, far away

Tomorrow mom has to go on a trip for work.  Mom will be gone for 6 days.  Mom made Nick a schedule so he can remember when mom will be home.

Nick's Newest Bed

Nick has a small bedroom.  We have bought Nick beds in the past, but Nick breaks them because he likes to jump on the bed.

Last week dad made Nick a strong bed, now Nick has a bed that is up high with dressers underneath, and there is room to store his trampoline on the side, so Nick can play on the floor and work on his pictures.

This is Nick last weekend, before dad put the dresser drawers underneath.  Nick likes to play his YouTube videos and then watch them from his new bed.

This is Nick today.  Now the dresser drawers are in place and the trampoline is on the side.  Nick can take out the trampoline when he wants to jump, or put it away when he wants to do his artwork on the floor.

Surfer's Healing

This week, Nick's class took a field trip to the beach for the Surfer's Healing event.

Nick's surf pal taught him how to ride the waves.

 And how to stand up on the surf board.

Nick got a new yellow t-shirt to remember the event.

Mom told Nick, "you have not participated in this event since you were little, I'm glad you had a good time."

Nick's own Water Fountain

All summer long, Nick has been collecting balls, tubes, rafts, and other floating toys for his swimming pool.  Now Nick has the best toy of all, a fountain that sprays water up into the sky!

When dad first put the fountain in the pool,  Nick had to learn how to turn it on.  He started to figure it out all by himself.

The water jumped higher and higher in the pool, it was so pretty to look at, and it sounded like rain.

When the sun went down the fountain took on the night light, and all the tubes and toys floating in the pool looked like beautiful pool beds in the water floating around the fountain.
