Today Nick is on Spring Break, so mom took the day off work to spend with Nick. We went into New York City to do something touristy, we walked across the Brooklyn Bridge!
We had lunch in New York City, then we took the A train to the High Street stop in Brooklyn.
We found the steps to walk up to the pedestrian path.
We had wonderful views of Manhattan, including the Freedom Tower.
We sat on a bench and had snacks and enjoyed the views of the city, the Manhattan Bridge, and the Statue of Liberty.
Mom had to keep Nick from walking in the bike lane!
In this picture, you can see the beams over the car lanes, and the Statue of Liberty in the distance.
Nick was happy as we approached New York City. In the picture, the bridge and Brooklyn are in the background.
After we got to the New York City side, we walked in the streets to go back to Penn Station. Nick found a private playground near an apartment building, and a lady was nice enough to let us inside so Nick could play.
Then we walked through Washington Square Park. Mom has not been there in many years. Nick enjoyed the street musicians and all the people enjoying the beautiful day.
After four hours of walking in New York City, we finally got back to Penn Station. We were tired, and we sat in the waiting area eating snacks waiting for our train.
Nick kept pointing to Long Beach on the screen. Mom said, "as soon as they have a track we will go down and get on the train."
At the end of our long day, we finally got back to Long Beach. Daddy picked us up at the train so we did not have to walk home. Good thing, we did a lot of walking today!

The King and I
Today we went to another Theatre Development Fund sponsored performance, this time we saw The King and I at Lincoln Center.
First we went to lunch and walked in New York City. Then we went to the theatre to see the show.
Nick has been in the theatre lots of times. We sat in the first row of the mezzanine, so we could see all the people down below and the musicians in the orchestra.
After the show we walked around Lincoln Center, it was a beautiful day to take in sit by the fountain and watch all the people in the plaza.

Levy Nature Preserve
Mom and Nick like to take nature walks at the Levy Nature Preserve. We can walk in the trees, sit on the fishing pier, and walk to the top of the hill to see views of Long Island and New York City.
This is a picture of Nick taken in January. Nick likes to run ahead of mom on the path,
This is the top of the hill. There is a windmill at the top, and you can look in the viewer to see things far away.
Here is a view from the top, of New York City at sunset.
When we went for our walk in January it was right after New Years. Nick wore his 2016 glasses and his patriotic hat mom gave him for Christmas.
And here is Nick today. It was a beautiful spring day, and we did not have to wear our coats. We sat out on the fishing pier for a long time, taking in the sun, the sound of the waves and the view of Jones Beach Tower.

Hello Spring 2016!
While it is April, it is still very cold in Long Beach. Today it was sunny, so mom said, "let's go to the boardwalk and see the ocean." We walked on the boardwalk and it was cold and windy, but it was nice to be outside and to think that we will enjoy the warmer weather soon.

Surfers Healing Event
This week, Nick's class participated in the Surfers Healing Event. It is a program where surfers buddy up with kids and teach them how to surf in the ocean.
Nick goes every year, he has a collection of t-shirts from the events. This is his new t-shirt for 2015.
Kids from the High School walked to the beach. Nick was one of the kids who held the school banner! He was wearing his t-shirt from last years event.

Long Beach Craft & Variety
Today mom and Nick went to town, and mom told Nick, "this is the last time we can go visit the Long Beach Craft Store because they are closing." This is where we bought all our seasonal things, and especially our Long Beach shirts we love so much.
We went in one last time to buy summer items. There was not much left, but Nick picked out a pool toy.
This is a picture of Nick and Cassandra, the store owner.
When we went to pay, Cassandra told Nick he was a good customer.
Mom told Cassandra the town will not be the same without her special store.
