Mother's Day

Today is Sunday, and it is Mother's Day.

Last week, on Monday, mommy and Nick went to the store to buy cards for grandma and grammy.

Mommy wrote out words and Nick copied them in the cards. Mommy said, "you have been practicing writing your address at school, you should write the address on the envelope."

Then we closed the envelopes and put stamps on the front.

Mommy told Nick we had to walk to the mailbox. We have never done that before. Mommy and Nick put on shoes and walked to the corner.

There was a blue mailbox, and mommy showed Nick how to open the door and put the envelopes inside.

And then we were all done. On Saturday, grandma left a voice message saying she loved Nick's card, and especially his handwriting. And grammy said the same thing on Sunday.

Good Job Nick!

Most Improved

Today is Wednesday, and there was a special event at Nick's school. It was the SEPTA Awards Night, and the ceremony was held in the auditorium of Nick's school. Nick got an award for Most Improved student.

McKenzie and Nick went to the school after dinner and mommy was there waiting. There were lots of people there, and Nick saw some kids and grown ups that he has not seen in a long time. He sat down next to a friend who is also named Nicholas.

And on the other side was McKenzie.

Then it was time for the ceremony to start. Nick did good sitting and clapped hands along with the rest of the audience. First Lindell School kids went up, then East School, then West School, then Lido, and finally it was time for The Middle School. All the kids lined up and went up the stairs to the stage. The Principal, Mrs. G., called Nick's name first, and his teacher Mr. Ramsey gave Nick a paper certificate and a medal.

Nick stayed up there when the next kid was called.

When the ceremony was done mommy, McKenzie and Nick went home in the car. We were proud of Nick and told him what a good job he did at the ceremony. Nick said, "home."
As we pulled away in the car Nick was saying, "bye bye school."

Spring Walk

Today is Saturday. When mommy picked up Nick at AHRC, Nick said he wanted to go to Wendy's for french fries. But when we got to the car Nick pointed to the trees and said to mommy, "walk."

We took a walk down the same path we walk in the autumn.

It looked very different because all the trees and plants were green.

We got to the bottom of the hill and then sat at the gazebo. When we walk in the autumn we look up at the gray sky and listen to the sound of the wind in the trees. But today we looked out at the blue sky and heard bugs flying around us.

When we were all done we walked back up the hill to the car.

Mommy said, "that was a nice surprise, I love taking nature walks with you."
