Easter Sunday at the Beach

Today is Easter Sunday. It is a beautiful sunny day, so mommy and Nick took a walk together. Usually Nick likes to walk on the same streets all the time, but today Nick listed to mommy and we walked on new streets. We found the Belaire Pizzeria and mommy and Nick went in and had pizza lunch.

Then we walked to the beach. Nick was so excited when we found a pathway to the beach. He said to mommy, "ocean."

We walked on the sand to the water. Mommy and Nick walked out onto the rocks. Nick was very happy, he never did this before. He loved to sit and look out and the waves.

Nick even reached down to touch the water.

Mommy tried to get Nick to walk on the sand but it did not work. Nick wanted to play in the ocean. The water was so cold! But Nick did not care, he still jumped in the water and splashed water all around.

Finally mommy convinced Nick that it was time to go home. We sat down to sit with our feet in the sun so that we could clean the sand off our feet. Look how went Nick's pants are!

Then we went up to the boardwalk and sat on a bench. We watch other people playing in the sand and in the water. All the people were happy.

Then we walked home on the boardwalk. Nick kept saying, "May, June." Nick did not like our cold rainy April and he wants summer to begin.

Spring Walk

Today is Saturday. When mommy picked up Nick at AHRC, Nick said he wanted to go to Wendy's for french fries. But when we got to the car Nick pointed to the trees and said to mommy, "walk."

We took a walk down the same path we walk in the autumn.


It looked very different because all the trees and plants were green.

We got to the bottom of the hill and then sat at the gazebo. When we walk in the autumn we look up at the gray sky and listen to the sound of the wind in the trees. But today we looked out at the blue sky and heard bugs flying around us.

When we were all done we walked back up the hill to the car.

Mommy said, "that was a nice surprise, I love taking nature walks with you."

Autumn Walk 2009

Every year, mommy and Nick go for a walk in the autumn to see the leaves. Behind AHRC is a path we can take down a hill, and then we walk around the Robin Hood camp for kids.

When mommy picked up Nick he said "Wendy's!" We got to the car and mommy said "I want us to take a walk first, then we will get french fries." Mommy put on her coat and then looked up and Nick was already walking towards the path. Mommy had to run to catch up with Nick.

First we walked down the path.

Then we arrived at the camp grounds. There were buildings, playgrounds, pools, basketball courts and lots of hills and trees. We walked all around the property.

Nick sat down and looked around. We listened to the sound of the wind in the trees. The camp is next to a horse farm and over the fence we could see people and horses.

Then we walked back up the path.

When we got back to the car Nick was skipping and smiling.

When we got home mommy put the pictures on the computer. Mommy showed Nick old pictures from our walks.

Mommy said to Nick, " These pictures remind me how big you are getting! I'm happy that we do this every year, I love our walks together. I hope you do too."

Walking with Mommy to get Ice Cream

Last summer, after dinner, mommy and Nick would take a walk to get ice cream.

This year, mommy and Nick have been taking walks, but Nick wants to walk in a different direction. We walk up to the bay and then come home. Mommy says we should walk the other way to the ice cream shop, but Nick says no everytime.

So one day, mommy took Nick in the car to get ice cream. Then mommy showed Nick the pictures from last summer. On Friday night after dinner mommy said "let's go for a walk to get ice cream." Nick ran to put on his shoes and said "that way" when we walked out of the house. He did not point in the direction of the bay, he pointed in the direction of the ice cream shop.

Nick remembered the streets we used to take. Mommy tries to get Nick to take a different path each time but he likes to walk the same way. We take Park Avenue to Walnut Street and then down a tiny path called September Walk.


Then we get to Beech Street and we walk to the ice cream shop. Nick likes to eat chocolate ice cream in a cup with rainbow sprinkles. We sit on a bench and Nick eats his ice cream. Then we walk in the West End streets to the Boardwalk.


When we get to the Boardwalk Nick likes to look at the ocean and the beach and the buildings with swimming pools. We stay on the Boardwalk until Grand Avenue, then we take Penn Street to Lindell back to our house.


Mommy is happy that Nick likes to take a walk after dinner. It is a special time for us to have together.

Autumn Pictures 2007

On Saturday Nick goes to AHRC to play. One day, when Mommy picked up Nick, she said "let's take a walk and look at the leaves." Nick did not want to take a walk at first, but then he saw that there was a path where he could run and there were lots of colorful leaves on the ground. Mommy and Nick walked down a path to the Robin Hood Country Day School, we had a lot of fun and took beautiful pictures to remember this beautiful day.

Autumn Pictures 2008

In the Autumn the leaves change color, they are no longer green. Some leaves are yellow, or orange, or red. On Saturdays, Nick goes to AHRC to play. There are lots of trees and paths to take walks. Mommy and Nick like to take walks together and enjoy the changing color of the leaves. Nick runs in the leaves on the ground, and he throws them up in the air to watch them fall. We walk down the path to the Robin Hood Country Day School. They have buildings and a playground and fields for Nick to run.
