Long Beach Rec Center Pool

Now it is November, and Nicks pool is closed. Today, when Nick woke up, he asked daddy to take him to the Long Beach Rec Center pool.

Daddy took these pictures of Nick on the big diving board, then he jumped off into the deep water!

Then Nick swam over to the side of the pool. Sometimes he would float on his back and kick his legs, daddy said, "when did you learn to do the backstroke?"

Nick is such a good swimmer. Mommy and Nick looked at the pictures on the computer. Mommy said, "I'm happy that you can go to the rec center pool to swim with daddy, what a lucky boy you are!"

Nick's Pool is Closed

Nick loves his pool. Every day he checks on it lots of times, he makes sure the pump is still running and all the toys are in the basket waiting for Nick to play.

Nick also loves to go swimming at night. Every night, before bedtime, Nick would have his moonlight swim.

Mommy and daddy told Nick he could have a pool until October, but last week daddy found a problem. The pool had a hole in it and the water was coming out. Daddy tried to fix the hole but it did not work.

Ms. Schneider made Nick a new calendar with a story about the pool. It said that the pool is broken and daddy cannot fix. The pool will be all done soon. June will come again and Nick will have a new pool.

Nick did not like the story. Nick said, "pool closed October" lots of times.

On Friday, all the water in the pool was gone. Nick was sad, he wanted to turn on the hose to put water back in the pool. Daddy used a pole to show Nick the hole on the floor.

Nick crawled into bed and was sad. Later he wrote out the months of the year, and he told mommy that it was October and the pool was closed. Mommy tried to tell Nick it is still September, but Nick changed all the calendars in the house to October.

On Sunday, daddy took Nick back to the Long Beach Rec Center pool. That is where Nick goes in the winter. Everyone at the Rec Center was happy to see Nick again!

SEPTA Pool Party

Last week, mommy told Nick we were going to a pool party! Mommy has friends from a group called SEPTA, and we all have kids that live in Long Beach or go to Long Beach schools.

We got to the party early. Nick looked so happy when he saw the big pool, but he was shy at first and sat on a chair for a little while.

Then Nick went in the water. He saw his old classmate Luke.

Nick was so happy in the big pool. Then more kids arrived and Nick did not want to stay, Nick told mommy he wanted to go home.

Mommy said, "we have to stay a little while longer, I want to talk to my friends, and there are a lot of people here who want to meet you."

Nick went back to his chair and was grumpy until we left. But when we looked at the pictures later and mommy asked Nick if he had fun at the pool party Nick said, "yes."

The Hampton Inn

Every February daddy and Nick go on a trip together to The Hampton Inn. In the hotel room, Nick had a desk and he played on his computer.

Now that Nick is eating lots of new foods, daddy and Nick had dinner at TGI Fridays. Nick ate spaghetti and popcorn shrimp!

After dinner Nick put on his robe and flip flops and took a towel from the room. Daddy and Nick rode the elevator to....

The Pool! Everyone knows how much Nick loves to swim in the pool. This pool is inside the building so Nick could play for a long time even though it is cold in February.

Nick also liked sitting in the hot tub!

After Nick took a shower, Daddy let Nick watch a movie on his player with head phones.

Daddy and Nick had a great vacation together. When Nick came home he found The Hampton Inn on Google Maps and printed out a picture. It is a happy memory for daddy and Nick.

No Pool in April

Now that it is April the weather is getting warmer. On Sunday, mommy and daddy were outside cleaning up the yard. Nick was outside too.

Nick wanted his pool, but when daddy took the cover off there was no water inside. Nick was sad and said, "I want pool." Mommy and daddy told Nick that we cannot have a pool until June when the weather is warmer. Nick was not happy with that answer. He went into the shed and took out some of the hoses and filters and tried to put them on the pool himself.

But in the end Nick could not make the pool work. He played with the sprinkler hose instead.

Mommy and daddy better be sure we can have that pool ready by June or Nick is going to be very upset with us!

The Pools at Wantagh Park

Nick loves the pools at Wantagh park. Daddy takes Nick there in the summer. It is a special place for daddy and Nick to go, and one of Nick's favorite places. They have low water pools with with sprinklers and things for kids to climb.

Nick also goes down the big water slide, but sometimes he's told he has to stop because he keeps climbing up and then other kids can't have their turn.

There is also a very deep pool with diving boards. Nick can jump off those boards into the deep water and swim to the ladder.

Daddy was walking to the life guards and they were all impressed with Nick's swimming skills!

Great Job Nick!

In the pool with Mommy

Mommy stayed home with Nick on Friday and Saturday, but it rained very hard and we could not do things outside.

But on Sunday the sun came out and we played in the pool. Mommy does not like to go in the pool very often. At first Nick was surprised. Nick and mommy threw balls to each other, then we played on the boat. Mommy carried Nick around the pool just like when he was a little baby.

Then Nick said he was all done. Mommy said "but the pool is so nice, why don't you stay in the water with mommy?" Nick did not want to stay and pointed his finger and said "home!"

And so we were all done and we put on towels and went in the house.

Time to Play in Nick's Pool!

It is almost the end of June. It has rained almost every day during the month of June. Nick has watched the rain from the window, and sometimes mommy let Nick play outside in the rain.

But today was a beautiful sunny day. Daddy said to Nick, "I have finished your pool, it is ready for you to play." Nick put on his bathing suit and went outside to play in his pool!

Even though the water was cold Nick jumped in and splashed in the water.

Nick also played on his "blue boat." It is a bed for the pool, and Nick likes to climb on top and float. Sometimes he likes to lie down and listen to the sounds of the water.

But not for long. Then he jumps off and screeches his voice and splashes water some more!
