Nick Remembers Theresa

Today was a beautiful sunny day. Mommy told Nick we could go to the playground so Nick could ride his scooter. But when we were in the car, Nick did not want to go to the park. Nick pointed and told mommy to keep driving straight, and we went to Point Lookout. Nick said, "Theresa."

Theresa was Nick's speech teacher. Nick used to visit her every week to play and practice talking. Mommy told Nick that Theresa might not be there, but we would look and see. We got to the little house and Nick opened the screen door. He knocked on the red door but Theresa was not inside. He asked mommy for the car keys, but mommy said they would not open the door.

Nick also looked in the windows, but no one was inside.

Then Nick said he wanted to walk. Mommy asked where we were going but Nick did not say any words.

In a few minutes we got to a playground. Mommy said, "oh, I guess you knew about this park."

Nick climbed high on the ladders, ran in the sand, and rode high on the swing.

Then we were all done playing and walked back to the car. Mommy told Nick, "I will call Theresa to see if we can come back to visit soon."

Friday with Mommy

On Friday, Nick goes to school and mommy goes to work. After school McKenzie takes care of Nick, and then mommy comes home.

But last Friday was different. Mommy told Nick, "at 2:00, mommy will come to school, we will go in the car to the doctor."

Mommy came to school and then we went in the car to the doctor. Nick was a good boy at the doctor, and when we were done mommy asked Nick where he wanted to go. Nick wanted to go to two places, Wendy's and the park.

Mommy said, "that's fine, but I want to go someplace too. I want to go to Hicks Nurseries to see the Spring Flower Show."

Nick was not happy about that, and he was moping around the whole time. He did not want to look at the beautiful flower displays.


Or say hi to the birds.

Or watch the fish.

Mommy also told Nick, "my birthday is coming soon, you should get mommy some flowers as a present."

Nick wanted to get mommy a christmas tree but mommy wanted flowers instead. Finally mommy picked out flowers and told Nick to go pay.

After Hicks we went to Wendy's for french fries but Nick did not want to sit down and eat. Instead he wanted to go back in the car to the park.

We went to Eisenhower Park, where mommy used to take Nick all the time when he was little. Nick walked to the sprinkler park and asked mommy to turn the water on. Mommy told Nick it is too cold, we have to wait until June.

Then we went to the part of the park where Nick could climb and run. The park has changed since Nick was little, and he did not like how it has changed.

Finally mommy and Nick walked under the trees. Nick told mommy he wanted April. Mommy told Nick it is still March, and we have to wait for the days and months to pass.

Soon it will be summer.

Election Day 2008

On Tuesday November 4, 2008 Mommy said it was a special day and there was no school. Mommy did not go to work either, she stayed home with Nick. We had french toast for breakfast and played on the computer. Then Mommy took Nick in the car. Mommy asked Nick where he wanted to eat lunch - at the Bagel Shop or Burger King. Nick said "Burger King," so Mommy and Nick went there. Nick ordered his own french fries and paid the lady with money.

After lunch we went to Roosevelt Field Shopping Mall to walk and look at stores. Nick likes to ride the glass elevator and walk up and down the stairs and escalators. We went up and down the escalators and elevator lots of times.


Then Mommy took Nick to the doctor. Nick was a good boy with the doctor and when we left Nick said to Mommy "park swing slide," so we went to the park to play. Nick has learned how to pump his legs to ride high on the swing.

When the sun was going down Mommy and Nick went home in the car. When we were on the Meadowbrook Parkway on the car ride home, Nick pointed to the exit ramp for Merrick Road. Nick likes Mommy to take that road home, but Mommy said "no, we are not going to go that way." When we past the exit ramp Nick said "bye bye that way..."
