Friday with Mommy

On Friday, Nick goes to school and mommy goes to work. After school McKenzie takes care of Nick, and then mommy comes home.

But last Friday was different. Mommy told Nick, "at 2:00, mommy will come to school, we will go in the car to the doctor."

Mommy came to school and then we went in the car to the doctor. Nick was a good boy at the doctor, and when we were done mommy asked Nick where he wanted to go. Nick wanted to go to two places, Wendy's and the park.

Mommy said, "that's fine, but I want to go someplace too. I want to go to Hicks Nurseries to see the Spring Flower Show."

Nick was not happy about that, and he was moping around the whole time. He did not want to look at the beautiful flower displays.

Or say hi to the birds.

Or watch the fish.

Mommy also told Nick, "my birthday is coming soon, you should get mommy some flowers as a present."

Nick wanted to get mommy a christmas tree but mommy wanted flowers instead. Finally mommy picked out flowers and told Nick to go pay.

After Hicks we went to Wendy's for french fries but Nick did not want to sit down and eat. Instead he wanted to go back in the car to the park.

We went to Eisenhower Park, where mommy used to take Nick all the time when he was little. Nick walked to the sprinkler park and asked mommy to turn the water on. Mommy told Nick it is too cold, we have to wait until June.

Then we went to the part of the park where Nick could climb and run. The park has changed since Nick was little, and he did not like how it has changed.

Finally mommy and Nick walked under the trees. Nick told mommy he wanted April. Mommy told Nick it is still March, and we have to wait for the days and months to pass.

Soon it will be summer.

Happy Birthday Mommy

Today is mommy's birthday. Mommy told Nick, "grammy is coming to visit today, and the three of us will go to the Flower Show at Hicks Nurseries.

When grammy arrived mommy and Nick were still doing housework. Mommy showed Nick how to clean windows and Nick cleaned the big window on the inside and the outside of the house.

Then we went to Hick Nurseries. Nick was happy in the car, he had a big smile on his face when we drove into the parking lot.

We walked around and looked at flowers and plants. Grammy said to Nick, "let's pick out a flower for mommy. What color do you like?" Nick said "purple," so grammy and Nick picked out purple Pansie flowers.

Then we went to a building called Public Storage. Grammy needed to get some things from her storage room. Nick has never been in this building and he liked to go inside, but he did not want to help carry things back to the car.

In the night time daddy, grammy and Nick sang Happy Birthday to mommy. Nick sang the whole song, but he sang "happy birthday to Nicholas." Grammy told Nick, "we have to say happy birthday to mommy." Nick looked up at mommy's eyes and sang, "...to mommy, happy birthday to you."

Nick at Hick's

Today, mommy and Nick went to Hick's Nurseries. We go there all year round. We visit the Spring Flower Show in March. In the summer we buy flowers for our garden. In October we visit the fall festival, and in December we visit the Holiday Displays.

Mommy and Nick walked all around. There were lots of kids there today, everyone likes to visit Hick's at Christmas time.

Nick especially liked the big snowman and he went back to visit it several times.

Then we went to the cafe. Mommy asked Nick if he wanted anything to eat. Nick said "gingerbread boy," so mommy gave Nick money to buy the gingerbread boy cookie.

Then we saw a big line of kids. They were waiting to see Santa. Mommy asked Nick if he wanted to see Santa and Nick said, "yes."

We waited on line and then it was Nick's turn. Santa said, "what's your name?" Nick said, "Nick." Santa said, "what do you want for Christmas?" Nick did not say any words.

Mommy said, "Nick has lots of toys and movies and a computer that he loves. Maybe he has everything he needs."

Santa said, "well Nick, if you change your mind you let me know."

After AHRC on Saturday

On Friday night, Nick was playing on the computer. He brought Mommy over to the computer to see what he was looking at. It was the webpage for Hick’s Nurseries. Mommy reminded Nick that he went there with his class a few days earlier. Nick's teacher sent home a story about their trip and Mommy and Nick read the story together.

The next day, when Mommy went to pick up Nick at AHRC Mommy wanted to go for a walk but Nick said “No, Wendy’s.” Mommy said we could go for a walk first and then go to Wendy’s but Nick said “no, car, Wendy’s.” Mommy said ok and that’s what we did. After Wendy’s mommy reminded Nick about Hick’s Nurseries and we went there to see flowers and pumpkins.

When we got back to Long Beach, Mommy said "hey, let's go to the boardwalk," so Nick and Mommy went to see the boardwalk. Nick wanted to run but Mommy was tired and said we had to sit on the bench. Nick did good sitting and watched the ocean and the people on the beach.
