Happy Birthday Mommy

Today is mommy's birthday.

When mommy came home from work, Nick, McKenzie and daddy took out a cake with candles. Nick sang the birthday song to mommy and then helped blow out the candles.

Nickerson Beach

It has been a cold winter and we have spent a lot of time indoors. But on Sunday it was sunny and warm, so mommy took Nick to Nickerson Park. They have a skateboard park, playground, and the beach.

Nick rode his scooter all around and up and down the ramps.

Then we walked through the sand dunes until we could see the ocean.

We walked on the sand to the waterline.

When we got to the water Nick wrote in the sand OCEAN. He wanted to go into the water, but mommy told Nick it was too cold. Mommy let Nick put his hands in the water when the tide washed in, but the water was very cold and Nick shook his hands in the air. Mommy rubbed Nicks hands until they were warm again.

Then we walked back to the playground. Nick climbed up as high as he could and looked back at the ocean.

When we went back to the car Nick was smiling. Mommy said, "we were here for almost two hours, I hope you had a good time."
Nick told mommy, "summer." Mommy said, "yes, it will be summer soon."

Friday with Mommy

On Friday, Nick goes to school and mommy goes to work. After school McKenzie takes care of Nick, and then mommy comes home.

But last Friday was different. Mommy told Nick, "at 2:00, mommy will come to school, we will go in the car to the doctor."

Mommy came to school and then we went in the car to the doctor. Nick was a good boy at the doctor, and when we were done mommy asked Nick where he wanted to go. Nick wanted to go to two places, Wendy's and the park.

Mommy said, "that's fine, but I want to go someplace too. I want to go to Hicks Nurseries to see the Spring Flower Show."

Nick was not happy about that, and he was moping around the whole time. He did not want to look at the beautiful flower displays.

Or say hi to the birds.

Or watch the fish.

Mommy also told Nick, "my birthday is coming soon, you should get mommy some flowers as a present."

Nick wanted to get mommy a christmas tree but mommy wanted flowers instead. Finally mommy picked out flowers and told Nick to go pay.

After Hicks we went to Wendy's for french fries but Nick did not want to sit down and eat. Instead he wanted to go back in the car to the park.

We went to Eisenhower Park, where mommy used to take Nick all the time when he was little. Nick walked to the sprinkler park and asked mommy to turn the water on. Mommy told Nick it is too cold, we have to wait until June.

Then we went to the part of the park where Nick could climb and run. The park has changed since Nick was little, and he did not like how it has changed.

Finally mommy and Nick walked under the trees. Nick told mommy he wanted April. Mommy told Nick it is still March, and we have to wait for the days and months to pass.

Soon it will be summer.

The Hampton Inn

Every February daddy and Nick go on a trip together to The Hampton Inn. In the hotel room, Nick had a desk and he played on his computer.

Now that Nick is eating lots of new foods, daddy and Nick had dinner at TGI Fridays. Nick ate spaghetti and popcorn shrimp!

After dinner Nick put on his robe and flip flops and took a towel from the room. Daddy and Nick rode the elevator to....

The Pool! Everyone knows how much Nick loves to swim in the pool. This pool is inside the building so Nick could play for a long time even though it is cold in February.

Nick also liked sitting in the hot tub!

After Nick took a shower, Daddy let Nick watch a movie on his player with head phones.

Daddy and Nick had a great vacation together. When Nick came home he found The Hampton Inn on Google Maps and printed out a picture. It is a happy memory for daddy and Nick.
