Lots of Snow!

A few weeks ago Nick was asking for snow. Mommy said, "I can't make snow, we have to wait." Well, on Sunday night we got lots of snow! Mommy and Nick put on coats and hats and went outside in to play in the snow.

Nick took the brush out of the car and helped to clean the windows, but the snow was so heavy it hardly helped.

The next day we opened the curtains and there was so much snow we could not believe it. The snow drifts went half way up the window.

After breakfast we put on coats and went outside to play. Nick was so happy to play in the snow, he was running all around the front yard.

Mommy took this funny picture of Nick on the porch.

The porch looks so different from the summertime!

Christmas 2010

Nick loves Christmas, and finally Christmas Day was here!

We had a some of our family over for dinner. Uncle Bob brought his electric violin. He showed it to Nick and tried to give Nick a music lesson, but Nick did not want to play music.

While Uncle Bob played music Nick played on his computer. We had to keep telling Nick to turn down his computer speakers so we could hear the violin music.

Then we exchanged presents. McKenzie gave Nick a Christmas present.

Nick took off the wrapping paper and it was a light box that looks like a fish tank.

After dinner and dessert, Mommy did not hear or see Nick. He was sitting on the couch with his cousin Jesse.

When everyone was gone, mommy and Nick watched the fish tank light.
Mommy said, "I hope you had a good Christmas. You are a very lucky boy to have presents and people who love you."

Nick's Christmas Tree

Today is Sunday, December 19. Mommy showed Nick the calendar, and we saw the words Get Christmas Tree! Nick has been waiting for weeks and weeks and now the day is finally here!

After breakfast McKenzie came over and we all went to The Dees Nursery. We looked at lights and ornaments and then we went to see the rows and rows of trees. Nick helped pick out a tree, and he even tried to pick it up himself.

Then we came home and Nick helped carry the tree into the house.

Nick helped stand up the tree and then he cut off the string. The tree popped open and we could see all the branches.

Then we put on the lights and Nick helped decorate. We have so many ornaments in the boxes, and it's a good thing because the tree was so big.

Now the tree is decorated and beautiful. After dinner mommy came into the room and Nick was sitting in a chair looking at the tree. Mommy sat down with Nick and we looked at the tree together.

Merry Christmas Nick!

Nick on Ice

Last week Nick came home from school with a paper that said his class was going on a class trip - they were going ice skating! Mommy has taken Nick to the Long Beach Ice Arena to watch people skate, but Nick has never put on skates.

McKenzie sent Nick to school with extra sweatshirt, hat and gloves. When Nick came home his teacher wrote that all the kids did a great job and had fun. Then she sent home pictures.

This is a picture of Nick with his teacher Ms. Weitzman, and her brother Mr. Weitzman.

In this picture Nick is skating with no help. Mommy was so impressed!

Looks like we will have to take Nick skating again - great job Nick!

I Want Snow!

A few days ago we got some snow. It was not a lot, just enough to cover the sidewalk and the trees. Nick was so happy when he saw that it was snowing, he kept opening up the window and putting his hand out to catch some!

But the next day was not cold enough, and the snow was all gone. Nick was sad. After school he asked McKenzie for snow. And when mommy came home from work he asked mommy for snow.

When mommy and Nick went to the store Nick wanted to buy shovels and brushes to clean the car. Mommy said we don't need them but Nick said, "I want snow."

Nick also looked at pictures on the computer where he was playing in snow. These are some of the pictures.

Mommy said, "I know you love to play in the snow. Hopefully it will snow soon and Nick can go out and play!"

Images of Long Beach

Nick loves living in Long Beach, and Nick loves to look at pictures of Long Beach on his computer. Last week daddy took Nick to Barnes and Noble Booksellers, and they bought a book about Long Beach.

Nick likes to ask someone to read him the words under the pictures. Sometimes Nick sits down and looks at the pictures by himself. This is a picture of Nick eating his dinner and looking at the pictures in the Long Beach book.

Happy Chanukah! Christmas is Coming!

Halloween and Thanksgiving are all done. Now it is December, Nick's favorite time of year! Nick loves to have the Chanukah candles and a Christmas tree. Lately when mommy comes home, Nick is playing Christmas movies on YouTube, and he likes to watch the Charlie Brown Christmas movie at night.

Mommy and Nick went to a store and they have big Santa and snowmen. Nick wanted to take all of them home and he tried to put them in the cart but mommy said, "No Nick, we can have a little Santa and little snowman in the house, but no big Santa or snowman outside."

When we came home Nick asked mommy for Happy Chanukah Candles. Mommy went up in the attic and got them down for Nick, then he put them on a table with a little tree and gingerbread house.

Nick was very happy. Mommy said, "oh goodie, another holiday shrine..."

Window Seat

Nick loves to sit at the window seat, he looks out at the garden and the people walking by. The weather could be sunny or rainy or snowy. Sometimes Nick sees mommy come home from the store and he opens the door.

One night mommy was outside and Nick was sitting in the window. He looked like a black shadow peeking out from the curtains. Mommy waved to Nick and when Nick waved back mommy took this picture.

Then mommy walked up to the window and we put our hands together on the glass.

Daddy. Nick. Haircut.

Mommy found these pictures on the camera. Mommy said to Nick, "what do you see?"

Nick had a big smile on his face and he said, "Daddy Nick Haircut!"

Great job Nick!

Character Counts

This is a picture from the Long Beach School Calendar.

The cover says Character Counts.... Sometimes Nick points to the words so mommy can read them. Today, Mommy pointed to the words and Nick read them! He said Respect, Trustworthiness, Fairness, Responsibility, Citizenship and Caring.

Later, mommy asked Nick to read the words again. Then mommy gave Nick a pen and paper and said, "can your write the words about Character Counts?"

Nick took the pen and wrote all the words.

Mommy said, "wow, what a great job! I'm so proud of you! I'm going to hang this up over my desk so I can remember these words too!"

Nick's Trampoline

Nick loves jumping! For a long time we had a trampoline in our house so Nick could jump and have fun. These are some old pictures of Nick on his trampoline.

This summer Nick's trampoline broke and we had to put it in the garbage. Nick did not mind because he was playing in his pool a lot, but now that the pool is closed, Daddy decided to buy Nick a new trampoline.

Today Nick took the legs off the trampoline and put them back in the box. Then he put the trampoline away and daddy asked Nick "why are you closing the trampoline?"

Nick said, "no trampoline, all done." Then Nick wrote daddy a note.

Daddy was sad. Mommy said, "we will put the trampoline in the attic and when Nick changes his mind we will take it out again."

Maybe Nick will write us a new note when he is ready to jump again.

Shoe Shopping

Mommy noticed that Nick's feet are getting bigger, so mommy told Nick "today we will go to the store to buy Nick new shoes."

First we measured Nick's feet. They are a half size larger than they were in the summer.

Then mommy looked for shoes in Nick's size and put three boxes on the floor. Nick put on a black pair of sneakers and then he took them off and put them back in the box. Mommy asked Nick if he liked the shoes and Nick said, "no."

Then Nick tried on a pair of white sneakers. Mommy tied the laces and Nick walked around the store to try them out. Then mommy asked Nick to try on another pair of sneakers, but Nick said "white shoes."

We put the sneakers in a box and then went to wait on line to pay. Mommy helped Nick put his new sneakers on and then we walked out of the store. Right across the street was a Burger King. Nick said "french fries please," so mommy and Nick went to Burger King to eat lunch.

King David Manor and The Allegria

For a long time, there was a yellow and orange building in Long Beach called The King David Manor. Nick loved that building, and he used to paint it all the time. Sometimes when we were in the car Nick would say "yellow orange building" right before we drove past.

This is a picture of Nick from 2006.

This is a new picture of Nick in front of the same building. The outside colors have changed, now it is called The Allegria Hotel.

Mommy and Nick walked around the building. Nick wanted to go inside so we walked into the lobby and the first thing we saw was a sign.

Mommy said, "I guess you are not the only person who loved The King David Manor, lots of people want to remember the famous yellow and orange building of Long Beach."

Days of Summer

Now it is October, the air is getting colder and the season is changing to Autumn.

Nick loves the summer. He loves to play outside, swim in the pool and take care of mommy's flowers. These are some pictures from our summer.

Every day we hang our wet bathing suits and towels on the fence to dry. Nick goes in the pool lots of times so sometimes he has lots of bathing suits on the fence.

Nick LOVES to play in his pool. Sometimes he swims when it is dark and the moon is in the sky. In this picture it is sunny and the water is bright blue. What a perfect day to swim in the pool!

In the summer we eat outside a lot. This is a Sunday morning when mommy and Nick were eating pancake breakfast on the porch.

Mommy loves to go to the garden center to buy flowers. Nick helps take care of the flowers by giving them water from the hose.

And this year we grew vegetables in pots. Nick helped take care of those plants too, and then helped to take off the string beans so we could cook them and then eat them.

When mommy tells Nick the pool will be closed soon Nick says, "NO!"

Mommy said, "The seasons change, and we will do different things in the autumn and winter. Summer will come again in June."

Stealing Stickers

Mommy keeps stickers in a little folder file. They are locked in mommy's room so Nick will not put stickers all around the house.

Nick knows the stickers are locked away, hiding under mommy's bed. One day, when the door was unlocked, Nick took the folder out and went through the folder looking for letter stickers.

Mommy said, "Hey, why are there stickers on the walls of the house?"

Then mommy found Nick stealing stickers!

Summertime Tree

Mommy and Nick love to sit on the porch in the summertime. Sometimes we sit in the chairs quietly. Sometimes we watch people walk by on the sidewalk. Sometimes we water the plants in the pots and flowers in the garden.

We especially love the tree we planted together with grammy. In the spring we can look up and see white flowers.

And in the summer when the flowers are all gone we can look up and see seed pods hanging from the tree.

Now it is October and the leaves are starting to change and fall off. That is not Nick's favorite time to look at the tree, because he has to help mommy rake the leaves!

Nick, Daddy and Grandpa

One day this summer grandpa came to visit. He brought us bagels to eat, and we all had breakfast at the table. When grandpa was leaving mommy took a picture of Nick, daddy and grandpa.

Three generations of Reminick men.

Henry and Katie

Last weekend, mommy told Nick that we were going to drive in the car for a long time to visit Henry's house. We usually visit in December for Christmas, but this was the first time we drove up in summer. Mommy told Nick he was going to meet his new little cousin, Baby Katie.

This is a picture of Henry and Katie. She is little but she can sit up by herself. She loves to look around the room, especially at her big brother!

Nick saw that Henry had a slip and slide and Uncle Ned helped Nick set it up. He also turned on a big red slide that had a water hose - Nick loved that slide and played on it for a long time.

Finally we got Nick to sit down so we could take a picture of grammy with all three of her grandchildren.

Then Nick went back to playing on the slide. Mommy and Henry were sitting outside on chairs and then Henry fell asleep on his chair!

After dinner we went in the car to sleep at grammy's house. It was time to say goodnight so mommy took one more picture of Katie in her crib.

The next day mommy and Nick drove a long time to get home. There were lots of cars on the road and it took a long time for us to get to New York. Nick did a good job keeping mommy company in the car.

Finally we were home. The first thing Nick did was put on his bathing suit and go in his pool. Mommy said, "are you happy to be home?"

Nick said, "YES!"
